It is a semi-trailer with high capacity. Recently Mega-trailers have been paid more attention than JUMBO-trailers thanks to their flat floor. Special low bolster truck-tractors and low-bed trucks have been designed (950 mm from the ground level instead of 1150-1200 m for standard ones) for these semi-trailers.
 
Main characteristics:
  • Internal payload volume of the body — up to 125 m3,
  • Internal width of the body — from 2.42 m to 2.48 m, Internal height of the body — up to 3.1 m,
  • Internal length — up to 13.6 m,
  • Payload — from 18000 kg to 23000 kg of cargo,
  • Max capacity — 34 euro pallets.
 
Advantages:
  • enlarged internal cargo space at the expense of the increased height of the semi-trailer;
  • ease of loading/ unloading that can be fulfilled from above, at sides or at the back header, as a result loading/ unloading processes are simplified and accelerated.
 
Disadvantages:
  • loading/ unloading height (the height of the semi-trailer floor) is lower than the level of the standard ramp, which may cause additional complications for loading/ unloading.
