A heavy hauler with a semi-trailer is the most widespread kind of vehicle used for inter-city and international cargo deliveries by road. This kind of transport is a platform with a ramp and with a hard front wall to avoid the movement of cargo forward if an emergency braking takes place. A tent is made of synthetic materials and is stretched on a rigid frame, which is easily dismountable. The tent can be easily rolled off or taken off to save time and simplify loading/unloading processes. Such kind of construction protects the cargo from exposure to harmful sun rays and precipitation but is not effective against heat and cold. This kind of vehicle is used to deliver about 80% of all cargos.

Advantages:

  • ease of loading/unloading that can be fulfilled from above, at sides or at the back header, as a result loading/ unloading processes are simplified and accelerated;
  • relatively low empty weight (in comparison to other types of semi trailers) — from 7500 kg to 6450 kg, which allows to increase the payload;
  • large internal payload volume.
